Gaffer

Old man's honorific

A gaffer is the chief electrician on a film or television set, responsible for lighting design and the crew that implements it.

In British informal use, a gaffer is a boss or foreman: The gaffer wants this finished by noon.

It also serves as an affectionate term for an old man, especially in rural contexts: The old gaffer sat on his porch every morning.
