Brasília
Planned South American capital
Brasília is the capital of Brazil, a planned city inaugurated in 1960 to replace Rio de Janeiro.
Located in the country's interior, it was designed by architect Oscar Niemeyer and urban planner Lúcio Costa, known for its modernist architecture and airplane-shaped layout.
