Arabian Desert
Middle East sandscape
The Arabian Desert covers most of the Arabian Peninsula, spanning Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, and the Persian Gulf states.
It is one of the largest deserts in the world and among the driest, with vast sand seas like the Rub' al Khali (Empty Quarter).
The region's petroleum reserves have made it strategically and economically significant since the mid-20th century.
