Father Christmas

England's gift-giver

Father Christmas is the British name for the jolly, red-suited figure who delivers presents to children on Christmas Eve—the same figure Americans call Santa Claus.

The name evokes a slightly more traditional, stately image than its American counterpart: The children left out mince pies for Father Christmas.
