A-10 Warthog

Low-flying ground attacker

The A-10 Warthog is a U.S. military aircraft designed for close air support of ground troops.

Built around a massive 30mm cannon, it's slow and heavily armored—meant to fly low and take punishment while destroying tanks and other ground targets.

The official name is Thunderbolt II, but pilots and enthusiasts universally call it the Warthog for its ungainly appearance: The Warthog's distinctive BRRRT sound comes from its rotary cannon.
