Dr Jekyll
The good half
Dr Jekyll is the respectable physician in Robert Louis Stevenson's novella who transforms into the monstrous Mr Hyde through a potion of his own creation.
The name has become shorthand for someone's virtuous or socially acceptable side, as opposed to a hidden darker nature: He's all Dr Jekyll at the office, but wait until you see him drink.
Often appears in the phrase "Jekyll and Hyde" describing dual personalities or unpredictable mood swings.
