Hyde
Famous London park
Hyde refers to the dark, hidden side of a person's nature—the capacity for evil or cruelty that lurks beneath a respectable surface.
The term comes from Robert Louis Stevenson's 1886 novella *Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde*, where the virtuous Dr.
Jekyll transforms into the murderous Edward Hyde.
Everyone has a bit of Hyde in them.
The name often appears in the phrase Jekyll and Hyde to describe someone whose personality shifts dramatically between good and evil. (Lowercase hide means to conceal or animal skin.)
