Dead Kennedys is an American punk rock band formed in San Francisco in 1978, known for fast, aggressive music and satirical lyrics attacking American politics, consumerism, and conformity.
The name deliberately provokes, treating a national tragedy as punk shock value.
Lead singer Jello Biafra's theatrical vocals and the band's song titles—often darkly ironic—made them icons of hardcore punk.
