Dalmatians
Firehouse mascot breed
Dalmatians are a breed of dog known for their white coat covered with black or liver-colored spots.
The distinctive markings made them popular as firehouse mascots and, through Disney's *101 Dalmatians*, as beloved fictional characters.
Originally bred as coach dogs, they would run alongside horse-drawn carriages.
Their Dalmatian puppy was born pure white—the spots came later.
