prosumer
Advanced amateur buyer
A prosumer is a consumer who also produces—someone who doesn't just buy products but participates in creating or customizing them.
The term blends "producer" and "consumer." In photography and video, prosumer describes equipment positioned between consumer-grade and professional: a prosumer DSLR camera.
The word also applies to people who generate their own solar power while remaining connected to the grid, or to enthusiasts whose engagement with a hobby approaches professional intensity.
