Crossrail
East-west London tube
Crossrail is a major railway construction project in London, completed in 2022 and opened as the Elizabeth line.
The project created a new east-west rail route tunneling beneath central London, connecting suburbs and airports across the metropolitan area.
The name refers both to the infrastructure project and, informally, to the line itself: The Crossrail tunnels took years to complete.
