Cochise

Apache Wars leader

Cochise was a leader of the Chiricahua Apache in the mid-nineteenth century, known for his resistance to American expansion into Apache territory.

His name occasionally appears as a symbol of Native American defiance or warrior spirit: He fancied himself a Cochise, leading the resistance.
