Brandywine

Revolutionary defeat site

Brandywine is a place name most famously associated with the Battle of Brandywine (1777), a Revolutionary War engagement in Pennsylvania where British forces defeated George Washington's Continental Army.

Brandywine Creek flows through Pennsylvania and Delaware.

The name also appears in Tolkien's Middle-earth as a river in the Shire: They crossed the Brandywine at the ferry.
