Bonapartists

French imperial loyalists

Bonapartists are supporters of Napoleon Bonaparte, his dynasty, or the political principles associated with his rule.

The term emerged in 19th-century France to describe those who favored restoring a Bonaparte to power, particularly after Napoleon's defeat and exile.

More broadly, Bonapartism suggests a political philosophy combining authoritarian leadership with populist appeal, nationalism, and centralized state power.

The Bonapartists rallied behind Louis-Napoleon, who became Napoleon III.
