Astrodome

First roofed stadium

The Astrodome was a domed stadium in Houston, Texas, opened in 1965 as the world's first large indoor sports arena with a roof.

Nicknamed "the Eighth Wonder of the World," it hosted baseball, football, and other events until falling into disuse in the early 2000s.

The name has been applied to similar domed structures elsewhere.

Lowercase, an astrodome is a transparent dome on an aircraft for celestial navigation.
