Cadillac Ranch
Texas car graveyard
Cadillac Ranch is a public art installation in the Texas Panhandle near Amarillo, consisting of ten vintage Cadillacs buried nose-first in a row at identical angles.
Created in 1974, the cars are half-submerged in the earth like a line of chrome tombstones.
Visitors are encouraged to spray-paint the cars, so their appearance changes constantly.
The site has become a roadside attraction and symbol of American car culture: We stopped at Cadillac Ranch on our Route 66 trip.
