Amun-Ra

Egypt's chief deity

Amun-Ra is the supreme deity of ancient Egyptian religion, formed by merging two gods: Amun, the hidden one, and Ra, the sun god.

The combination elevated Amun-Ra to king of the gods, creator of all things, and patron of pharaohs.

His cult centered at Thebes dominated Egyptian worship for centuries.

The temple of Amun-Ra at Karnak remains one of the largest religious complexes ever built.
