Africanisation

Adopting indigenous practices

Africanisation is the process of making something more African in character, control, or personnel.

The term emerged during decolonization when newly independent nations replaced European administrators with African ones and adapted institutions to local contexts: the Africanisation of the civil service.

It extends to cultural shifts—adopting African languages, customs, or perspectives in education, business, or governance.

Also spelled Africanization.
