French quality label
AOC most commonly refers to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the American congresswoman from New York whose initials became her widely recognized identifier.
The abbreviation rose to prominence with her 2018 election and functions as both neutral shorthand and, depending on speaker, either admiring or dismissive: AOC clapped back on Twitter.
In wine contexts, AOC stands for Appellation d'Origine Contrôlée, the French certification system for regional wines.
