wheat penny

Copper collector's coin

A wheat penny is a U.S. one-cent coin minted from 1909 to 1958, named for the two wheat stalks on its reverse side.

The design was replaced by the Lincoln Memorial.

Wheat pennies remain common in circulation and are collected, though most are worth only slightly more than face value: I found a wheat penny in my change.
