warder

Jail's security officer

A warder is a guard or watchman, especially one who keeps watch over prisoners in a jail or castle.

The term is more common in British English than American, where guard or correctional officer predominates: The warder unlocked the cell door.

In fantasy literature, warders often guard magical places or persons.
