mental ward
Hospital psychiatric section
A mental ward is a section of a hospital dedicated to treating patients with psychiatric conditions.
The term is slightly dated—clinical settings now prefer psychiatric unit or behavioral health unit—but mental ward remains common in everyday speech and carries connotations of institutional confinement: He spent three weeks in the mental ward after his breakdown.
