walk around

Stroll without destination

To walk around is to move on foot without a fixed destination or in a casual, exploratory way: I spent the morning walking around the old neighborhood.

It can also mean to circumvent something by walking: We had to walk around the construction site.

A walk-around (hyphenated as a noun) is an inspection done on foot, especially a pilot's pre-flight check of an aircraft.
