volt-ampere
Electrical power unit
A volt-ampere is a unit of electrical power equal to the product of one volt and one ampere.
In direct current circuits, it equals one watt.
In alternating current circuits, volt-amperes measure apparent power—the total power flowing through a circuit—which may differ from the actual work performed due to phase differences between voltage and current.
Abbreviated VA.
