vignetting

Peripheral light falloff

Vignetting is the darkening or fading of an image toward its edges, most noticeable in the corners.

In photography, it can result from lens limitations, improper lens hoods, or stacked filters—though it's often added intentionally for artistic effect, drawing the eye toward the center: She added vignetting in post-processing to soften the portrait.
