verbals
Gerunds and infinitives
Verbals are spoken words or statements, especially in contrast to written ones: The coach gave us verbals after the game.
In grammar, verbals are verb forms functioning as other parts of speech—participles, gerunds, and infinitives.
In British slang, to give someone verbals is to abuse or taunt them with words: The fans were giving the referee verbals all match.
