nonfinite

Lacking tense marking

Nonfinite describes verb forms that don't carry tense or agree with a subject.

Infinitives (to run), participles (running, run), and gerunds (running as a noun) are nonfinite—they can't serve as the main verb of a sentence without help from a finite verb.

Having finished the work, she left uses a nonfinite participle alongside the finite verb "left."
