vapor pressure
Liquid's gaseous push
Vapor pressure is the pressure exerted by a vapor in equilibrium with its liquid or solid form at a given temperature.
Every liquid has molecules escaping into the gas phase; vapor pressure measures how readily this happens.
Liquids with high vapor pressure evaporate quickly and are called volatile.
Water's vapor pressure determines when it boils—at sea level, water boils when its vapor pressure equals atmospheric pressure.
