two-seamer

Movement-heavy fastball type

A two-seamer is a fastball grip in baseball where the pitcher places two fingers along the seams of the ball rather than across them.

The grip creates more movement than a four-seam fastball, causing the pitch to sink or tail as it approaches the plate: His two-seamer was running in on right-handed hitters all night.
