release point
Where pitchers throw
Release point is the moment and position where something is let go—most often in sports, where a pitcher's or quarterback's release point determines the ball's trajectory and speed.
A consistent release point makes throws harder to read; an erratic one telegraphs pitches.
The term extends to any context where timing and position of release matter: The trebuchet's release point was calibrated for maximum distance.
