inside pitch
Ball crowding batter
In baseball, an inside pitch is one thrown close to the batter's body, near the inside edge of the strike zone or even closer.
Pitchers throw inside to prevent batters from extending their arms for a powerful swing, or to set up pitches on the outer half: He jammed him with an inside pitch.
An inside pitch that hits the batter may be intentional intimidation.
