tweakers

Strung-out junkies

Tweakers are people who use methamphetamine or other stimulants, especially habitually.

The term comes from tweaking—the jittery, compulsive, often erratic behavior characteristic of stimulant use: fidgeting, obsessive tinkering, inability to stay still.

The tweakers were up all night taking apart a lawnmower.

The word is dismissive or contemptuous.
