turning off

Cutting the power

Turning off means stopping something from operating, typically by disconnecting power or flow: She's turning off the lights, turning off the water.

It also means leaving a road: We're turning off at the next exit.

Informally, turning off means causing someone to lose interest or feel repelled: His arrogance is really turning off potential clients.
