triskelion

Celtic triple spiral

A triskelion is a symbol consisting of three bent or curved lines, legs, or shapes radiating from a common center, creating a rotational symmetry.

The most familiar version features three running legs, as seen in the flags of Sicily and the Isle of Man.

Ancient examples appear in Celtic art and Greek pottery, where the spiral form suggests motion or cycles.

The term also appears as triskele, and the symbol has been adopted by various modern groups and movements.
