trisect
Cut in thirds
To trisect is to divide something into three equal parts.
The term appears most often in geometry, where trisecting an angle—dividing it into three equal angles using only compass and straightedge—was proven impossible in 1837, though mathematicians had attempted it for over two thousand years.
Draw lines to trisect the circle.
