traumas
Deep emotional injuries
Traumas is the plural of trauma—severe physical injuries or deeply distressing experiences that leave lasting psychological damage.
Medical traumas are wounds requiring urgent care: The ER handles gunshot wounds and other traumas.
Psychological traumas are events that overwhelm the mind's ability to cope: childhood traumas, the traumas of war.
The word has broadened in casual use to describe any upsetting experience: My dating traumas could fill a book.
