train shed
Covered railway station
A train shed is a large covered structure enclosing railroad tracks and platforms at a station, protecting passengers and trains from weather.
Victorian-era train sheds featured dramatic iron-and-glass roofs spanning multiple tracks: The cavernous train shed echoed with announcements and the hiss of steam.
Modern stations often use canopies over individual platforms instead.
