Rides freight illegally
A train hopper is someone who illegally rides freight trains, typically by jumping onto boxcars or flatcars.
The practice has roots in Depression-era hobos traveling for work, but modern train hoppers often ride for adventure or countercultural lifestyle: We met some train hoppers camped by the rail yard.
