stationmaster

Depot authority figure

A stationmaster is the official in charge of a railway station, responsible for its operations, staff, and schedules.

The role was more prominent when rail travel dominated transportation: The stationmaster blew his whistle as the train pulled away.

Now often replaced by station manager or similar titles.
