timestream

History's flowing river

The timestream is the continuous flow of time conceived as a current or river.

The word appears almost exclusively in science fiction, where characters may travel through, alter, or branch the timestream: Changing the past could disrupt the entire timestream.

It treats time as something with direction and momentum that can be navigated or disturbed.
