tide lines
Ocean's high markers
Tide lines are the visible marks left on a shore, seawall, or other surface showing where water reached at high tide.
Debris, seaweed, and foam often collect along these lines: We walked along the tide line looking for shells.
The term extends to any similar demarcation showing where liquid once stood—water stains on a bathtub or marks on fabric after drying.
