tidal patterns
Sea level cycles
Tidal patterns are the regular, predictable cycles of rising and falling sea levels caused by gravitational forces of the moon and sun.
Most coastlines experience semidiurnal patterns (two high and two low tides daily), while others have diurnal patterns (one of each) or mixed patterns.
Understanding tidal patterns matters for navigation, fishing, and coastal activities: We planned our beach walk around the tidal patterns.
