throttle body

Engine air intake regulator

A throttle body is the part of a fuel-injection engine that regulates airflow into the combustion chamber.

It contains a butterfly valve connected to the accelerator—pressing the gas pedal opens the valve, allowing more air in and increasing engine power.

The mechanic cleaned carbon deposits from the throttle body.

The throttle body replaced carburetors in most modern vehicles.
