cold air intake
Performance air system
A cold air intake is an aftermarket automotive modification that routes cooler air from outside the engine compartment into the engine's combustion chambers.
Cooler air is denser, containing more oxygen per volume, which can improve engine performance and efficiency: He installed a cold air intake to get a few more horsepower.
The modification typically replaces the stock air box with tubing that draws air from a lower, cooler location.
