thought criminal
Outlawed mind holder
A thought criminal is someone guilty of holding forbidden beliefs or opinions—a concept from George Orwell's *1984* where the state punishes citizens for unorthodox thinking.
The term now applies more broadly to anyone persecuted or ostracized for their views rather than their actions: In that company, questioning DEI policies made you a thought criminal.
Often used sarcastically or hyperbolically to criticize ideological conformity.
