theologist
Studies religious doctrine
A theologist is someone who studies or writes about theology—the nature of God, religious belief, and spiritual questions.
The word is a less common variant of theologian, carrying the same meaning: Medieval theologists debated the existence of free will.
Both forms work, though theologian dominates in contemporary usage.
