Program's musical identity
A theme tune is a melody associated with a television program, radio show, or film, typically played during opening or closing credits.
The tune becomes so linked with its show that hearing it instantly evokes the program: I can still hum the theme tune from my favorite childhood cartoon.
Also called a theme song when lyrics are included.
