tarsi

Feet's rear bones

Tarsi is the plural of tarsus, the cluster of small bones forming the ankle and rear part of the foot.

In anatomy, the tarsus connects the leg bones to the metatarsals.

The word also applies to the stiff plate of connective tissue in an eyelid, and to the segmented foot section of insects and other arthropods.
