targeting system
Locks onto objects
A targeting system is the mechanism or software used to identify, track, and aim at a target—typically in weapons, where it helps direct missiles, bombs, or guns toward their objective.
The term extends to marketing and advertising, where targeting systems analyze data to direct content toward specific audiences.
In video games, targeting systems let players lock onto enemies: The auto-targeting system makes combat easier.
