strike-through
Line through text
Strike-through is a typographical effect where a horizontal line runs through the middle of text, indicating deletion or correction.
In editing, it shows what's being removed while keeping it visible: The price was ~~$50~~ $35.
Digital communication uses strike-through for humor or to suggest a retracted thought you're sharing anyway: I think he's an idiot~~ a nice guy.
